WDM signal regeneration using a single alloptical device.

Using the principle of quasi-continuous filtering in a non-linear fibre, we propose an optical device for the simultaneous regeneration of sevaral channels at 40 Gbit/s. Simulations predict an improvement of the signal quality for four channels by more than 6.8 dB.

WDM-Coherent OCDMA over one single device based on short chip Super Structured Fiber Bragg Gratings.

We theoretically propose and demonstrate experimentally a Coherent Direct Sequence OCDMA en/decoder for multi-channel WDM operation based on a single device. It presents a broadband spectral envelope and a periodic spectral pattern that can be employed for en/decoding multiple sub-bands simultaneously. Multi-channel operation is verified experimentally by means of Multi-Band Super Structured Fi...

Compact single mode tunable laser using a digital micromirror device.

The wavelength tuning properties of a tunable external cavity laser based on multiplexed volume holographic gratings and a commercial micromirror device are reported. The 3x3x3 cm(3) laser exhibits single mode operation in single or multi colors between 776 nm and 783 nm with less than 7.5 MHz linewidth, 37 mW output power, 50 μs rise/fall time constant and a maximum switching rate of 0.66 KHz ...

Autonomous Localization and Mapping Using a Single Mobile Device

This paper considers the problem of simultaneous 2-D room shape reconstruction and self-localization without the requirement of any pre-established infrastructure. A mobile device equipped with co-located microphone and loudspeaker as well as internal motion sensors is used to emit acoustic pulses and collect echoes reflected by the walls. Using only first order echoes, room shape recovery and ...
